   Proposal Description:
   Previous research has shown that a depression diagnosis can contribute to         earlier onset of cognitive impairment and depression, but it is not known         whether cognitive impairment and dementia may influence the onset -- and course   of -- depression.  The present research will examine whether the development of   cognitive impairment / dementia is associated with a) increased report of         depressive symptoms, b) clinical depression, and c) worsening trajectory of       depressive symptoms.
